You Ask - I Answer

What is sex therapy?

Sex therapy is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on resolving sexual concerns. Sex therapy can treat various sexual concerns like low libido, compulsive sexual behavior, painful sex, premature or delayed ejaculation, orgasm challenges, sexual trauma, gender identity concerns, communication or intimacy issues and so much more. Over the first couple of sessions, I conduct a thorough assessment and we create collaborative goals while we begin building an authentic and safe relationship with each other. Then begins the "work" of therapy which can consist of various exercises, activities, and other resources to successfully address your concerns. It is important to note that sex therapy does not involve any physical contact between the therapist and client.

How long does therapy last?

A typical therapy session is 50 minutes. Please ensure you arrive at your appointment on time so we can get the most out of our time together.

The overall length of therapy varies from client to client. In general, with me, therapy lasts a few months to one year. The overall length of time in therapy depends heavily on your commitment to the process and the intensity of the issue.

Do you do other types of therapy other than sex therapy?

Yes! I work with adults facing all types of relationship challenges. Healthy communication is vital to all relationships but it's only one part of the picture. A person's overall mental health and wellbeing can affect their relationships so I also work with anxiety, depression, panic and other mood disorders. Therapeutically, I utilize an eclectic approach which means I tailor my interventions to meet your individual needs. Meeting you where you are at and walking this journey together is one of the most powerful parts of the therapeutic process.

Is sex therapy for me and does it work?

Yes! Sex therapy can be very helpful for individuals, couples and multi-partner relationships. Most people report higher levels of sexual satisfaction and pleasure after the conclusion of sex therapy.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

I do offer a few need based sliding scale rates. Please give me a call to discuss.
